Are you a candidate for office who is committed to the liberation of Black women, girls, and gender-expansive people? Are you willing to:

Be outspoken for liberation through policy like Fannie Lou Hamer

Be courageous and principled
like Shirley Chisolm 

Share a message and organize
your base like Ella Baker

Build the People’s Power
like Stacey Abrams

Then complete the questionnaire and earn the “Lead Like a Black Feminist” distinction.
The “Lead Like a Black Feminist” distinction signals to our thousands of members and to Black women, girls, and gender-expansive people across the United States that, if elected, you will govern, make decisions, and create policy in a way that will center the demands and visions of Black women and gender-expansive people. Candidates who earn this distinction demonstrate that they will support the liberation of Black women and gender-expansive people.

What to expect from the endorsement process:

  1. Must be an elected official running for public office
  2. Must be nominated by a BFF AF member or takes the LLABF survey
  3. The LLABF endorsement committee will review and approve or deny endorsement
  4. Endorsed candidate will be notified by email. If approved, the endorsement will be shared on BFF AF Lead Like A Black Feminist Candidate webpage and social media and will receive LLABF collateral.
